Black Rave Culture

Black Rave Culture honours the essence and Black origins of dance music. The trio – James Bangura, Nativesun, and Jamal – represents the sound of their city Washington, D.C.. Both their productions, mostly released on their self-titled label, and sets clearly build on the classic African-American electronic music, such as Chicago house and Detroit (dub) techno. Yet their signature sound is heavily infused with contemporary breakbeats, and influenced by genres like Jersey house, Amapiano, gqom, and Baile Funk.
